2nd generation Re-Gearing

so basically i want to know if 3.73 will fit on my 5 lugger with no modifications.
Will 3.73's fit without having to mod anything? Id like to just install and it be done with. Any and all info helps. thanks!

 

yea just the 3.73 gear and pinion

 

the real question is
Why do you want to change your gears? and What is the stock ratio?

 

cause when i got bigger tires 1st runs way to high and 5 way to low and alot of five luggers re=gear after getting bigger tires for a better ride

 

3.73 should help but it also depends on how much bigger your tires are. I would find someone that has the same size tires and 3.73s that will let you drive their truck to see how you like it. You might just want to goto 4.10 thats just my thought, i would be pissed and a waste of money if you went to 3.73 and it didnt give you what you wanted. OR goto a junk yard and score a whole 3rd member for cheap. Remember you will have to buy the gears and the master install kit. ~400 plus shipping, plus install time. OR have Chase do it for you and just slap it in when it shows up (yes i know the guy).

yea im not sure the number but were under 3.73 for sure. id do 4.10's but getting to look at the cost and time, i think id rather just deal with what i have, what else would it do besides give me a little smoother ride?

 

5 lugs have 3.31s

 

4.10 come with the 4 cylinder manual iirc and the automatic is different. I do not know if the gearing changes between 5 and 6 lug or not

 

5 lugs DO NOT have the 4.10's. unless its a 1st gen.
