Not the Usual Tire/Wheel ??s for 5 lug

I bought a 2008 2WD Access Cab and really like it. It has the typical 15 inch steel wheels with some chrome covers I'm not happy with.

I've done a lot of lurking and looking at mods, rims, etc.

I found a good site that cross references many standard bolt patterns, sizes, etc.

I want to pick up 16 inch Sienna or Camry Steel Wheels and put Racing Disc Full Moon Hubcaps on. I've always liked the look & they're cheaper money than X-Runner rims, etc. I can't put those hubcaps over the Tacoma steelies because there's not enough edge to make it work.


Naturally, I'll need to move over the TPS, etc.

The question is: by going with a 16 inch car steel wheel, I'll be more limited to car type tires. That's really OK, because the truck is used mostly as a car anyway with some occassional light hauling.

Anything else that I'd need to consider?

You don't need to conform with car tires there are truck tires that fit for example I went with 17" Rims and got Yokohama 235/65/R17 Geolandar and they fit like a Glove
Just put them today.

The way you can measure the diameter of a tire is as follow:
235 millimeters /25.4 = 9.25 Inches Wide
65 is the aspect ratio for the wall height 9.25 * .65 = 6 Inches height
Since the rim is 17" + 6" top and 6" Bottom is a total of 29" tall

I've heard some people use 31" tall tires but I can't talk about that but you can for sure fit 29" because I did.

I did some calculation and you can use:
235/70/16 = 28.95” Tall or
235/75/16 = 29.88” Tall
If you want to use excel to know the overall diameter just put
235 on B2
70 on C2
16 on D2
=B2/25.4*C2*2+D2 on E2
On E2 will display de diameter of the tire.
