How does all of this work out with 1st gens? I hate my bench seat cause the previous owner literally broke all of the support bands and springs beyond the point of replacement, I need a new seat, and I'd kill for some buckets

I would look for a set of buckets maybe from a 2008 Cobalt. They fit mine nicely.
When I looked at the seats, I actually pulled the bench out on the spot (4 bolts) and set the seats in there to get a feel.

I then just spot welded me some square stock across the bottom frame, drilled some holes and mounted them. You may only catch 2 factory holes, but no biggy. Just put some big fender washers on both sides, tighten down and cover with plumbers putty to prevent any moisture/rust.

    Best regards,
    Doug
