    I live on an island, and my commute is less than 10 miles roundtrip lol

    the rear disc conversion isn't unrealistically expensive. but, honestly most of the weight and braking is done by the front, so if/when I personally upgrade my brakes that's whats gonna be done first. especially when trail braking and such the drums tend to overheat hella fast and become irrelevant anyway.

    tell me sir, how upgrading from inferior drum brakes, to superior disc brakes, would ruin braking power?

    the argument that drums are moar powerful cuz big trucks use them, is invaild, as heavy duty trucks as well as buses are moving towards the use of disc brakes. the latest batch of city Buses we got are equipped with four wheel disc brakes.

    disc brakes are superior, and if a properly sized brake is used for the rear conversion, there should be no loss of braking power

    Are you comparing same disc size, vehicle weight, and tire size with said vehicles? And yes you would have to adjust the proportioning valve when swapping to disc. If drum brakes are so awesome why dont all vehicles use them?

    well, personally I don't use the handbrake independently from the rest of the brakes.

    yes, I am aware of the fact that most of the front does the braking. I actually mentioned it in on of my earlier posts.

    discs don't nesc. offer increased braking power. however, if the upgrade is sufficient, they can. the less fade, skiddishness, and less tendency to lock up is a welcome addition as well.

    Despite all wheel disc brakes, Frontiers weigh substantially more than a similarly equipped and spec'd Tacoma, leading to a greater stoping distance. physics still apply.

    The whole point of an attack is to enter a corner at as high rate of speed as possible, scrub it off as quickly as possible without locking the brakes, apex the corner early, get on the gas and use the full legal width of the road for the highest speed exit throttle.:D

    I guess I'll try on slotted rotors and upgraded pads for size. Who makes decent high-temp brake pads for the 5-lug, anyways? I mean racing/severe duty grade. The Toyota pads leave much to be desired.

    That's why you upgrade the suspension and chassis so you can enter the corner at a much higher rate of speed without relying on the brakes as much :)

    And you forgot about the downshift(s), the turn in, then then wait for the chassis to catch up, correct for that, apex the turn, feed the gas and that little bit of opposite flick to tame that live axle oversteer fun. :p

    Summit, jegs etc all have a few different options.
