Leaf pack help

Looking for leaf pack options to go with fat bobs. Wanna replace full pack not add a leaf. Any suggestions?

 

all pro standards seem to be very popular but theres lots of options. why do you want to upgrade the whole pack?

 

I have read on the site ppl talking about sagging in the rear and I am not a fan of that look so I assumed replacing the whole pack could hopefully help me eliminate that. Maybe I'm wrong. Never had a 5 lug tacoma before.

 

What do you plan on using your truck for mainly?

 

5-lugs are Spring under correct? If so all pro will not work.

 

And why is that?

 

It is spring under. Mainly used for hauling and pulling occasionally. Nothing terrible but I'm not a fan of sagging rear. Don't like the look.

 

If I understood it right the arch isn't enough for spring under and they were made for spring over meaning he would have to relocate his spring perches.

 

no. the 5 lug and 6 lug leafs are the same eye to eye measurements. so lets say you put a 3" leaf pack for soa on a sua truck it will only give you roughly 1.5". they will work just wont yield as much lift. you only have to move perches when your changing to lt or leafs that are longer than stock eye to eye or center pin to eye in either direction etc...

 

I've heard good things about ... nothing fancy, beefy though, decent price

 

only thing that would help you would be the all pro expos but those will rough up the ride if its empty. if you dont plan on towing or hauling on a daily basis the aal will serve you fine for ride height. other thing you could do is add helper springs or air bags

 

Any way to get more lift with a leaf pack. More than 1.5?

 

Icon or Deaver make leaf packs that prvide more lift but they generally suck when it comes to heavier hauling or towing.

 

icon doesnt make leafs but you can look into a pack that like 5" to get more lift

 

icon rebrands. or they were going too. Never saw if they started selling.

 

my suggestion would be the 2" aal that you can get from fat bobs and add the airbags. leafs that add that much lift are generally flexy so they wont be ideal for towing or heavy weight

Yes, from the eye to eye, both 6 lug and 5 lug are similar (close to ~62").

Just because they are similar eye to eye, the 6 lug leaf packs will not give a 5 lug any lift. It will do the opposite, you will actually drop the rear a few inches.

The pic below has a Deavers J66 (10 pack) installed on the rear of my 5 lug. If you look at Deavers site, it says a TACOMA PreRunner 1.5" lift in the rear.


The reason why it does not work is the arch of the springs, the 4x4/PreRunners are SOA, so the arch is not as steep as the 5luggers.

One way to get more lift for a 5 lug is custom packs from Deavers, you will have to call them and let them know you are not a 6 lug and you are looking for a 1.5" lift. They can also make the leaf spring to be stiff for towing, or just a soft pack for a 'smooth' ride in the rear.

The other option to raise the rear on a 5 lug is to purchase an AAL from anywhere. IMO, purchase a long AAL. Fat Bob's kit allows you to to purchase a long or short AAL.

There is also a third option, this option would take some cutting and welding, but you could do a complete conversion. Turn your 5lug SUA to SOA.

 

The arc difference is roughly 1.5" thats why i said a 3" pack would give 1.5 5" would give 3.5 etc. id look into having your deavers reworked for more lift
