Is it for 4x2 off-roading or just for winter traction?

No but I use an Aussie Locker and love it. Less backlash than the Detroit from what I felt and solid. Been running it about 3 years and love it on and off road.

Never heard of the Aussie locker, but will check it out - thanks. I've used the Detroit Locker on my Ford truck in the past, but have never used a Trutrac, which unlike the Locker, allows the rear wheels to turn at different rates for smooth turns.
