Anyone running this size on a 2wd?

    225/70-15 too?

    Pics?

Trying to figure gearing and tire sizing and how they fit the truck wheel wells too. Should be about an inch bigger than the lil donuts it has stock. Thanks!

I had been thru that thread but thank you. I still haven't seen the 215/75-15 specifically. I don't want the biggest I can fit, one size up is about all I'm willing to go with stock gearing, and even then it might be too much.

Stock gearing can handle much larger than the factory 215s...

Not for my use, unfortunately. I'm thinking about 3.73s already. For my needs, it is already a little tall on the gears with the stock tires.

Which engine do you have? And what is it that you use the truck for which makes the gearing too tall?

I'll be towing a camper and hauling 2 motorcycles at the same time. 2.7/5spd 3.31 rear end.

I know it "can" push taller tires. I'm not starting another gearing discussion, just looking for a pic of the 215/75r-15 tires.

I'm already planning of 3.73 gears with stock or +1" tires at most. I've pulled trailers with an older Taco 4 cyl/5 spd. Lower gearing is going to be necessary in my case.

Too many to fit here now!
No pics, but I currently have the Uniroyal Laredo cross country tires in that size on my access cab automatic. I've had zero problems so far. Before that I had the BFG all terrains. No problems.

Na, my 200 HP Wrangler can do some pretty amazing stuff since swapping to 4.88 from 3.21 gears. My 2 Mach 1 Mustangs came alive with 4.30 and 4.56 gears over the stock 3.55 and my son's 2014 V6 6m Stang went from 3.21 to 4.10 and is as quick as a stock V8 GT now.

Gears mean a lot. I have a complete third being built this week with 4.10s in it for the Taco. With the 3.21s it is drivable like a car. For being a truck, they are useless. Backing my 1000 lbs. trailer into my driveway I'm feathering the clutch far too much, I can smell it when I'm done. It is barely sloped uphill.

My new third member with 4.10 gears went in last light. A couple hours, and I never even removed the wheels! Very easy to install.

They totally transformed my 3.31 geared 2014 5 speed base 2.7 reg cab. First gear is still useable from a stop, response in incredible.

The truck feels like it weighs half of what it did with the "old" gears. 3k miles on the truck.

Highway cruise is fine, I rarely clear 70 MPH and the speedo reads 3 MPH high at 65.

I was bouncing back & forth from 3.73 to 3.90 to 4.10 and recalled advice I got for my Mustangs, always err on the lower ratio. Glad I did!

I was worried I might need to do tires sooner than later, but the 4.10 and stock donuts are just fine. These are the gears it should have been delivered with!

Built for maximum low end torque, tooter II.VII intake manifold spacer, LCE long tube header, Injen long tube intake, 2,900 rpm torque peak.
There's also another 5 lug alternative...
Wide lightweight 16x7 inch alloy wheels with wide 235/60 tires work great! :)

This particular combination still retains the stock wheel diameter within 1 percent, and the truck handles nicely in the curves.

That looks great too. For now I'm happy enough with the stock rubber and wheels. I was thinking it might be a touch low gearing and would need more tire diameter but it is great as is.

A Costco rep told me P225 75R 15 was best for my 4 banger but I would love to know what you are running and how you like them.
    Thanks
