I have a 96 5 lug Tacoma 2 wheel drive. Truck came with 14 inch rims and hub caps. I did research and thought I did enough but the 5 lug Tacoma rims I bought that are supposedly from 2015 would fit. I bought them and now I find out that don't fit.

Can someone link me to more info or better yet a list of what rims will fit my truck.

do a search on a big tire company chain looking up wheels, it will give you lug and backspacing info you need.

    Or call them

I was hoping there would be a sticky for that explaining what people have tried and what works or doesn't work. What exactly am I suppose to search?

Can you share specifically what doesn't fit?

pretty sure the backspacing is way off like the 6 lugs are between generations.

The older trucks had a more sucked in narrow stance so they needed a wider offset and less backspace wheel.

The newer 05+ trucks have a wider set wheel stance and require a narrower offset with more backspace.

Putting a 05+ wheel on a 96-04 truck makes the wheels suck into the wheel wells a lot more.

The bolt pattern would be the same as the 05, but your hub bore size . 67.1Mm and the second gen is 60.1 so, look for wheels with 67.1 hub or larger (jeep tj wranglers are 73.1) or you might be able ot have the others machined out to 67.1, but not really worth that.

When you search for new wheels look up:
    bolt pattern (5 x 114.3 or 5x4.5)
    stud size
hub bore diameter (67.1mm or larger)
    offset (40mm or high positive)
back spacing. ( 4 inches, maybe?)

look for wheels that were on front wheel drive cars from the factory, japanese or us, and search them up online.
Roadkill customs website has a huge chart of all makes and models that would share bolt patterns to cross reference.

I just mounted 97 dodge intrepid steelies on my 09. 16x7 with a 71.5 mm hub size, so those might work.

As a general rule I'm not a fan of the white lettering out on tires, but that looks pretty sweet on you truck.

Anyone have input here? The lug nuts are very small and in afraid they don't sit flush on the rim.
