I am wondering the same thing ... i think as long as they have the same spring rate ... it should be a lift of whatever the springlength is ... but i still havent had confirmation from anyone who truely knows

alright ... i pulled the trigger ... :fenforcer: ... i ordered the v6 5lug springs for my front suspension rebuild... I ordered the Moog version as opposed to the acdelco's mainly because they were 45 bucks ... and the AC Delco's were 75 ... we'll see if anything breaks! ... Ill update this thread with updates

How are they holding up? I'm ready to pull the trigger too but I can't find the safety...

just got them in ... as in test drove it tonight.. its alright, definitely stiffer feeling however that may be due to the new shocks i also installed.
to be honest the driver side seems to be about an inch lower than the passenger .. and I think it may be the quality of the spring that led to this .. I will post some pics soon and give a better account soon
I DID buy the cheaper MOOG brand rather than the AC Delco ones for more ... oh .. I see that is in my quote from earlier ..

Hmmm... the only reason I can think of is that the bottom end of that coil isn't butted up against the seat correctly?

But looking forward to seeing the finished product!

I have a set of TRD springs from a 6 lug and might do this as well depending on how it works out.

I've seen you on a couple of threads regarding lifts. I hope you don't mind me asking, but if you're so concerned on lift, how come you didn't go with a 6Lug? 5lugs always seem to be a lot shorter.

Lol, fair question. Well long story short, a year ago I was in the market for my first vehicle. Didn't really care either way if it was a car or a truck, but I came across this 5-lug on craigslist and after only being listed for like an hour, I had to check it out. Mind you I had zero knowledge of Tacomas except that there were 4x4s and 2WDs. But you know what they say about Toyotas :p and the price was too good to pass up, so I took it! Turned out to be a good buy, but at the time lift wasn't the first (or 2nd or 3rd) thing on my mind and a 4x4 or Prerunner was waaaaay out of my price range!........Not that I even knew what a Prerunner was .-.

Lol. At least you got a nice truck for a first car. Good luck with it.

Couple shocks, some old tires, and a bad paint job
Yes, V6 coils can give you a little lift, but these days unless the coils are off a truck with less than 50k you're not going to see much lift. The only options now are Doetsch lift spindles, some coil spacer lifts and body lifts.

FWIW...... My husband and I used to work on 1st gens/lifts back in 2000. So....

The consensus was (at that time) was the V6 coils gave about 1" lift. The OEM coils on the 1st gens are side specific.

If you feel energetic, I would recommend swapping the coils assemblies from side to side and see if you get different result.

Thanks guys! Solid info. I'm still trying to decide if I should make the switch but that definitely helps.

Hopefully 2nd gen spacers actually LEVEL out the truck. Spacers for 1st gens only lift the front end 3/4" (aka not high enough).
