i've got 235s on the stock 15'' steelies and i've driven them before and after a lift...i can't tell you what will happen since I've got an automatic, but you should be fine if i'm fine? there's a little less power at the start but once I got above 15 mph it felt better than it did with the dinky stock 215's. But again, since you have an manual I'd assume you'd be fine. just my opinion

I plan on getting 235's for mine but with a brand new truck, I am not re gearing just for 235's. I'm not familiar with the 2.4, but I wouldn't think you would need to regear just to go up two sizes.

there is small noticeable power loss with 235s but that was only when i am driving up hills at highway speed, and even then it wasn't enough to warrant a downshift. other than that I have not noticed anything.

i have a 5speed as well, the biggest thing to remember is that you control the shift points. i had planned on regearing but have decided that i am going to spend that money somewhere else. IMHO it's just not needed with 235s, and i am keeping in mind that i also owned a base 98 tacoma.

I have your exact truck... I am lifting as soon as my shackles come in. I will also be replacing my 205s with 235s. I'll post up with results but I think we'll both be fine. To me it seems like I'm turning too high of rpms in 5th so this should correct that.

235's is fine on a stock truck, don't need to regear. With 31's the truck will start dogging in 5th gear or if you have an auto which would require a regear to regain power and some mpg.

If you want to run larger tires in the future, save your money to regear or swap your 3rd member to 4.10 if you are auto or 3.73 if you are manual depending on motor and tire size. I am sure the newer 2T have more power than the RZ

Hey Mowtaco im followin ya now, but i might be doin it very soon (month or so) so i might give you an update.. Since findin 3.73 doesnt seem too easy i might stick with it for now, but maybe drop in a rear from an auto, (3.58 over 3.42) if i can pick one up cheap. ive driven the new 2t around town and honestly i didnt think the manual was impressive. the auto i was impressed with though. but i dont think the manual has any advantage over the older 2rz in an equal truck just due to size and weight. IMO..

tire width doesn't really matter, as long as you keep the overall diameter the same or close to stock size. im running 275s out back right now lol and i didn't need to re-gear

Your truck makes my pants tight.. lol... But yeah, my only oncern is that i barely just have enough power to top the hills i drive at 70 in 4th, pretty sure if i bump to 235's ill have to hit 3rd...

lol thanks...are you planning to lift or lower? if you were going lower i would just bump down the aspect ratio if you feel as though you would loose too much power. if anything you could also do a couple small performance mods (CAI, exahust, etc.) to compensate for the slightly bigger tires. They would be alot cheaper and easier than re-gearing.

im lifting... i actually got my spindles and spacers in today so next is wheels and tires.. i just cant figure out what type i want. Any ideas?? i was gunna go with mickey thompson classic II's in 15x8 or pro comp 1069's in 15x7... but now iver seen a few black wheels and some other i liked... i dunno.. also what kinda exhaust is of choice.. i like the flowmaster sound still, but i think it might be annoying at highway speed..

get eagle alloys in black so you have the best of both worlds! if you want to do your exhaust i would get a magnaflow over a flowmaster. But just fyi, there is a drone at highway speeds that could get annoying over long periods of time.
