Pop-N-Lock Woes fixed.

I bought a Pop-N-Lock soon after purchasing my Tacoma, so it's 4 years old. Last year, the lock ceased on me, so I could not unlock the tail gate. After spraying nearly a can of WD-40 into it, and letting it soak for a few days, it finally loosened enough to unlock. I took the lock apart, and cleaned it, and it's working again.

So, this winter, I noticed the paint started to bubble, and peel. Here's a picture of the piece of junk.



I scraped off the rest of the paint, and painted it with flat black paint. Here's what it looks like after 3 coats of paint.



Here's a picture of it re-installed on the tailgate.



I'm not sure how long my paint job will last, since I didn't use any primer, and I'm not sure how well paint sticks to aluminum. It looks good for now. I'm not at all impressed with the quality of the Pop-N-Lock. A co-worker of mine bought one for his Silverado and he had the same problems with the lock also ceasing, and paint peeling.

 

Maybe it is time for a name change ^^^^

 

Poop-N-Lock is a more accurate description!
