I do it the easy way. I have a manual transmission.

99% of the would-be car thieves down here can't drive it.

I miss driving a standard for that very reason. Not even the theft thing, if someone stole my Tacoma up here in ND there are only 10 other people in the state anyway. Shouldn't be a tough investigation. :D

But this girl I really didn't want to let borrow my car asked for a ride, but I'd had a few beers so I said no. So she asked if she could take my car, and I'd never even met her before so that was a negative but I could also tell she was not one who would know how to drive a stick so I handed her the keys. :D She had to walk to wherever she parked her truck.

OK, back on topic. Every time I see this stuff I'm glad I don't live in a state with people to worry about. I lock my truck in town, but when I'm out at work I don't even bother. I leave the keys in the ignition.

Hell yeah! I don't do it with my Tacoma, but when I drive my Jeep downtown I often leave the keys in it because for one not many people can drive it cuz it is a stick, and two, I doubt any would know how to keep it running because of the worn out carburetor! Not to mention it only has a top speed of 55mph, not the perfect get away car so to speak lol

hence the effectiveness of the tow truck theft technique.
Doesn't matter whether your truck runs at all.
