I am replacing every component of my JBL system including the amp/sub/speakers. The issue I am having is trying to find a wire harness that will work with the wire harness that needs to plug into the aftermarket head unit for illumination and power and what not. The typical wire harness that you can buy at walmart or best buy is only designed for the non-jbl stereo harness, but the JBL upgrade has a different wire harness that i cannot find anywhere or find info on. They make a harness that is designed to work with the JBL system, but it's designed to keep the JBL amp/sub/speakers. But I'm not keeping any of it, it's all being replaced by aftermarket components. Has anyone had success replacing their entire JBL system and found a solution to the wire harness issue?

Well if your going to all that trouble rewire the whole thing. :D

Maybe try the FSM and see if they have a schematic of the JBL plug in there.

The non-JBL wire harness does not work with the JBL harness. The connections are different.

Do you think I could splice into the these wires somehow and connect my aftermarket HU that way?

just from person experience dont splice your wires on the wiring harness. reason being if it actually works you will be lucky, and if you ever (for some God awful reason:confused:) decide to sell your taco you wont be able to sell your stock HU with it because it will be impossible to hook up.

Thanks for the responses, I'll be sure to post some pics after I'm done. This issue has been holding me up for a couple weeks now. Everything else is done so I've been itching to get the sound going. The end is near though!!!

I just went through this myself and it boiled down to tapping into the factory wiring harness and not using any harness adapters. I got everything I needed, just get a volt meter out and it won't take very long to figure out.

can you get the jbl harness and then cut into that to connect to the new HU so you can revert to factory by removing the jbl if need be? i have no idea what the jbl harness looks like, just putting this out there...

I have put in 2 10' subs and rewired my door speakers to my pioneer head unit but for some reason my 2 front speakers don't work and the music just plays through the 2 front tweeters.... anyone else have this problem??
