I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
Here is a new product we just finished. It mounts to the bed rails with 4 T slot nuts and will hold up to a 37" tire with a BS of 4.5" or less. Constructed of 1.75" .120 wall HREW with 1/4" mounting plates. Poly bushing in the pivot points and grade 5 hardware. The spanner is a 1" grade 5 bolt with 1" .120 wall tube welded to it. It can be mounted with one bar at an angle in the bed or it can be mounted with both bars to allow you use of the bed for those camping trips

Pics of it mounted as soon as the customer installs it.

I have mixed feelings, this looks too damn cool! =)

Looks like the physical weight sits on top of the bed, while the rails would just keep it in place. Is that right Jerry?
