Wow so much missinformation in tha thread.

That is a subject that has been heavily covered here, the loose steering affects all of the tacomas, it's a defect in the steering shaft, you just need the proper conditions to feel it.

I used a rubber washer stuffed in the shaft bushing to stop the rattle, been over a year.

Wheres the misinformation. I'm trying to understand.

I have driven my rig on all types or terrain (however no serious off roading) and I just don't feel this...usually I am pretty sensitive to these sort of things.

X2, but add some off roading. I've noticed a bit of a rattle that sounds like the column on heavy washboard, but then again, it could have been my teeth. Certainly no bumpsteer or loose feeling whatsoever.

de-badged, de-stickered, no jewlery, level kit (removed after second front dif), tint, skid plate (now dented), front tow hook off of Land Cruzer, reciever d hook (cleavis), yellow wire mod, abs kill sw. mod, window visors, stubby antena, anytime reverse lights mod, anytime reverse camera mod, blizzacks on stealies, bed lights mod, weathertec mats allround,
When my 2010 felt weird on gravel turns out the "intermediate shaft" in steering linkage was "worn out" after about 20k.
    WTF?

    Notice the tsb #.

Those pricks know there is a problem and don't do anything until I say the magic words.

had the TSB for the intermediate steering shaft done a week ago on my 2012 O/R DCSB and it no longer rattles. before it knocked around and now, perfect. went to the off road park to test it.. and to have some fun. some say theres still rattles even with the tsb, but mine does not
