Saw another member use this with his Bestop on his DCSB to give him an extra foot of leg room when sleeping in the bed. Should work with any topper, I hear.

It requires a cap to work. Basically gives an extra foot of enclosed space, so you can sleep with the tailgate down in a DCSB.

 

What I don't get about truck tents is every time you want to drive somewhere, you have to disassemble your tent. Normal tent or campershell you don't have to do that. I guess it's good if your a hardcore 4x4 guy who goes all the way to the edge of your favorite lake and then stays there for a couple days. For those of us who do the national/state park thing and then car camp, it's kind of a pain in the butt. I am always driving around to get to hiking trailheads.

 

I found a cabelas deluxe truck tent on craigslist. Its freestanding but has a tunnel you can attach to the bed and camper. Just unhook the tunnel and drive. Saw some on craigslist in other cities too.

 

I'm one of those guys I guess I hate camping in campgrounds because I don't see the point of camping if you have to PAY to sleep outside and if there's a "quiet time" or if other campers complain about you playing an acoustic guitar around your campfire at 11:00pm. Sure the amenities are nice, but if I wanted flush toilets and a shower, I'd camp in my backyard.

I just pitch a regular tent on the ground when I have to use a campground like in a Natl. Park, or I'll take my RV.

This tent is nice, because I can sleep comfortably in my short box (I'm 6'2") and be shielded from harmful insects without choking in my zipped up Bestop.

 

$25 for shipping, seems excessive on a $50 purchase.

 

True, but others have found it for $70, and that price can't be found any longer. So I'm happy paying an extra $5.00

 

Sweet. Backpacking or 4x4 type camping away from others is something on my list of things to experience.

 

I like it a lot. I had a first gen Taco and put 170k miles on it surfing up and down the coast. It had a 6' bed which was fine for me to sleep in but now I got a shorty and think about not having that option, this solves it. Perfect for me...

 

Just remember the tent and its straps will rub the paint everywhere it touches, sometimes to bare metal especially if your camping in dusty, sandy or dirty conditions, or simply just having a dirty truck. Just add a little wind and let the sanding begin...

It's for the GMC Envoy, but it fit's perfectly on the topper.

As for the rubbing...ehh whatever...I already have rock chips on the bottom of both bedsides and that seems to be the only place it contacts.

 

I don't know if that would work with my shell's door.
