    do you have a hitch?
Goal post type rack in the hitch & tower type rack on the cab roof.
    or

the xsportser type for the truck bed kinda like a tracrac
    or

I use to use one tower type rack (basically one row of a thule or yakima) on my 95 xcab & a ball mounted bike rack.
The cab load bar would set as far back on the door as I could.
I carried a 14' Mad River Canoe that way for years.
