    Heres the spec of the trailer that I am buying this weekend.

    Dry gross weight-3375
    Tongue weight -390
    55 gallon holding tank
    30 gallon water tank

    Do I need a break controller? it does have electronic break. Can I still tow it how with the break controller?

    If the trailer has brakes its probably for a good reason. Spend the few bucks on a brake controller and be safer. My 2 cents...

    ^I agree, i have pulled a 3900 lb excavator once but was not fun. Especially when those tanks are full it'll be heavy and will surge when you brake or accelerate

    Avoid the time based ones, get a proportional brake controller. Believe me, you will not regret the few extra bucks.
    With a time delayed controller, your trailer wheels will lock up every time you tap the brakes at low speed like in the camp ground loop (making you look like an idiot - please don't ask how I know ;)), while giving you very little braking power at highway speeds.
    The Prodigy P2 models have a good reputation at a reasonable price - at little over a hundred bucks.

    No, that's a time based controller. Avoid those, believe me. You will regret buying one of those for a travel trailer. I am speaking from experience.

    I have done all the hi-pro mods for a life time, since I got this truck at a great price, I will be happy with showroom new.
    hey bud, check out Rednecktrailers.com they are nationwide, and will ship. they are good people and have great prices. when my uncle manufactured trailers, he bought from them for many years. but get a good quality controller, the cheep ones burn out quickly.

    Trailer weight requiring brakes listed by state. I don't know alot about the P2 controller but I have a P3 and love it. Very adjustable and works awesome at any speed. I am towing a 5500# TT and it is great. About $150 but IMO well worth it.

    I have a P2 and it works great. Easy to use and plugs right into the harness in the truck.

    Hey Scottri,
    wondering how you connected your p2 to the toyota harness.
    Was this your wire matching?
    Factory Harness - > P2
    Black and Red -> Black
    Brown -> White
    Green and White -> Red
    Red -> Blue
    Green : Doesnt go anywhere

    When I ordered my P3 I was able to tell them what vehicle I had and they sent the appropriate harness adaptor. Plug and play. I do have the towing package so not sure if that matters.

    YES!! I have an Impulse digital controller and love it. It can be mounted anywhere (with in wires length of wiring under dash). Does not have to be mounted level. Has an easy to adjust digital read out. If you have the factory tow package you can get a plug and play harness for it that allows you to plug it right up to your truck with no splicing wires etc.
