I am trying to get opinions on what route I should go with my truck. I am budget conscious and in college (Just to keep in mind)

I need new tires so that is going to happen, the question is my 15" stock rims. They are peeling and are starting to look bad. I have also nearly "de chromed" every part of the truck leaving it gold and black. So I have a few options:

paint them black, by hand or powdercoated
    buy black rims,
buy new rims of a new kind...chrome? etc
    leave them alone.
    other.

Suggestions on a tire/rim combo are welcome too as I need to go to the shop soon too.
    Thanks all

    Heres the truck

leave them alone-because they happen to be the toughest strongest looking wheels Toyota has made for trucks-and also you just don't see that style on anything else. IMO sets your truck apart.

I think blacking them out would be the easy way to go, but be careful what finish you go with. Flat black sucks, gloss black is tacky. You need to go with satin black. Match with your badging. It has just enough sheen to look nice.

Nah-it's easy and kinda fun. Is your spare a match? Pull it and prep it and try the paint then when you develop a feel for it do the other 4.
That plasti-dip thing you should check others here who have done it and see if it lasts. Your wheels are subject to acids, vortex windage and high RPMs that can take toll on inferior finishes.

I see. Plasti dip I meant would be a predecessor to painting for real to see if I like it

    Paint them rustoleum metallic.
They made my rims look close to stock.
You can see how they look on my eagle alloys. Just check my build in my sig.

I think black rims are tacky and over used.

    Paint them!

There is lots of DIY threads that go step by step. Sanding by hand is a lot of work but it's worth it. I did mine Rustoleum graphite I believe and here's how they look:

Plasti-dip lasts longer than you would think and is very easy to touch up. I've had plasti-dip on my wheels for quite some time now and they still look good

I like black rims but not sure if it would be the best color for your truck. If you powdercoat, a proper blasting and prep should make it good as new.

Thanks all, This thread is a little old for when I was deciding what to do... Ill update you all. Plasti dip is very easy to touch up but i recommend putting it on thick on the wheels and maybe painting the center caps( It wore off to a small touch and the lug nuts stripped it bad to where I was painting them with a brush haha. but they turned out very good... Here they are...

    IMG_0462_948a716a89ede10b7cf77a52207f7ce39fef121a.jpg

Since then I got some free tires from a fellow TW member. But they were 17s so I "had" to get new wheels. I liked the black look and found a good deal on some powdercoated fj wheels. Here they are which were since mounted. I am waiting on the last center cap I need to finish up my plans for them but here they are.

    Thanks for the advice guys.
