I helped a friend take an F250 single cab long bed and turn it into a single cab short bed (was into diesels until I bought my Tacoma last month) and its not easy. The hardest part is figuring out how much of the frame to cut and where. Then trial and error putting the bed on the frame and measuring out where to put your axle, relocating cab mounts etc. took us a few months but it was a weekend project.
