I know. For the first time in 7-8 years. I am letting my contract expire, then exploring my options. Typically, I would just upgrade without question. Tsk, tsk Verizon.

I think all carriers throttle the "super users", I have no problem there. I rarely go over 2gb, but don't want to use my phone less due to being paranoid I may go over and get crazy overage charges. The problem is, Verizon service is rock solid here and all others are mediocre at best. I will be shopping other plans when my upgrade comes in a few months though...

Going to get the Maxx today 250 talking minutes, unlimited texts, 2gb of data for 230 out the door and 100/month for 2 years.

Not true, if you buy a phone at full retail rather than the 2 year contract price you can keep your unlimited data plan.

I haven't gotten the phone yet but was wondering if you guys knew a way that I could get it without a 2 year contract, if possible.

I think that you would have to pay full price.

Also Mr.2x4 do you use any kind of app killers or just let them stay running in the background?

i think if you buy the phone at full price then switch your number over you can get around a new contract. i have done it but i have always used one of the other lines on my dads plan to get the phone so the question is if you can get your hands on the phone without having it tied to a line.

The Maxx has a built in app killer. Verizon told me the other day that they have had issues with some of the aftermarket app killers on this phone.

If you are looking for an upgrade or going to a new contract, try Amazon Wireless. I was able to get my RAZR when they came out for a penny. Was able to get a Samsung Strausphere (sp) for a penny also. They do have some good deals.

You don't need app killers for android. The os manages running apps on its own.

For you maxx owners, when I get to my pc ill post up a thread on how to properly charge it and maintain great battery life.

They told me I could buy my Razr with ICS and and the regular software installed ans switch it if I didn't like one or the other.
I always let mine run completely dead, even out the box, then charge it fully and unplug it when it's done charging. Problem is even with doing that my battery only lasts 3 hours but my old Razr, V3 flip phone, would go about 3 day's even when running the browser, music, and constant texting.

Draining the battery is bad for it!
