    that's a unique observation...
had some immediately after I woke up... Not a fan. :(
No gauze pack - just a gauze bandage on the outside to catch the yuck.
 recessed deviated septum mod...

Thank you all for the well wishes! TW has been my best friend today keeping my mind off the ouch. :D

    Not too bad actually...
Pain is worse in the am because you can't hydrate your throat very well while sleeping...
Tylenol w/ codeine takes out the worst of the ouch & I'm now taking it at longer time intervals. Was every 4hrs. but now about 6hrs or more apart.
Two types of antibiotics for the next week to take as well.
It's all in liquid form & actually does not taste bad at all!:D

The big thing is there is REALLY a difference! My nasal airway feels like the Holland Tunnel! and I still have swelling...

I was apprehensive about the whole deal initially, but now even though there is pain I am glad I went through with it.

    Thank you for asking!

Hey I want my grill soon dammit.
J/K the old lady had it done and it was pretty interesting how much guaze got jammed in her nose. They fixed it to help her sleep apnea.

I had surgery on my nose twice before for severe damage and in both cases it seemed like they stuffed a whole roll of it up each nostril...
This time there was none! Just the gauze strip in the pic above!

The procedure to fix the deviation was just not as traumatic as the prior ones I had...

(My nose was severely broken in a bike accident at 16)

The only tough part now is waking up with dry throat...

Doing my morning ice down right now.:(

    Getting better though!:D

Good luck with the procedure! Recovery at any age has its advantages/disadvantages. Would recommend ice cream and ice chips. And if you are a fan of pain medications, pop em' if ya got em'!

I had a tonsillectomy at 35. It was pure hell for about 3 days, then turned to semi-horrible hell for another 4 or so. It felt like I was trying to swallow razor blades. The ENT doctor told me I was his oldest tonsillectomy ever and they normally talk people out of it. I had strep throat 4 times in about 6 months and was constantly sick, so I chose to get them out. Once they were out and I was healed up, I felt like a new man. Haven't been sick like that in the 5 years since, and I no longer snore.

I did a lot of research and found that its so much worse for adults than kids - lots of gross medical stuff so I won't go into it. I will say be prepared to be out of commission for probably a week. Get off the Vicodin as soon as you can stand it - having a clear head is the first step towards getting off the couch. Good Luck.

    You pretty much nailed it.
I'm sitting in the Dr. Office now for my follow up. It's been a week and a day since the surgery.
I took no Percocet or Vicodin - just Tylenol w/ Codine.
    :D

That's unusual for a guy... usually they are laying on the couch wanting to be waited on hand and foot :p

Good to hear you are up and about. Hopefully the scabs are healing up. It's funny that most people just assume you are exaggerating when you explain how rough that procedure is. It's not on the scale of pain like getting a gunshot, or losing a limb or something, but its a constant, uncomfortable annoyance that is hard to explain to someone that hasn't gone through it.

    Very well put though...
the constant sore throat is the worst... It's particularly distressing in the morning when I wake up since it's gone dry while I'm asleep. The first sip of water is a blessing and torture at the same time. :(

Back to 100% and today was my first day back at work.

Have a follow up appt the first week of Sept. and that's about it for the whole ordeal.

I can breathe a whole lot better - although I didn't know it was bad beforehand - and snore a lot less.

    Thank you for asking! :D
