Got my new sub setup and it was much less expensive than expected! With great results!

Ordered a double sub box from Amazon. Brand was R/T. While skeptical because of the $90 price tag, but was blown away by the craftsmanship and sturdiness.
Although it is .77 cu ft and the two JL w1s I dropped in have are nominal at .65
I plan to fit some fly pieces of mdf in it to bring the volume down
I got the two subs, with a box for the trunk of a car, and a autotek super sport 490.2 for $100.
I'm using an alpine mrp-m450, which I bummed off a guy for $60

And I gotta say, for two 10s in a box that's slightly too big and only getting 100watts a piece, it really sounds good
I dare say better than the type r 12 I had in my last car.

    Thought y'all should know :D

That's nice man congrats. With sub's though it's all about the box. If you put the best subs in a bad box against a bad sub in a good box odds are the bad sub will sound much better.

I had a 1200w Sony Xplod in mine, with a 15" Skylon Monster Subwoofer

Including the amp wiring kit, I paid $130. All legit.

This video starts without the sub, and then halfway through, I turn that badboy on

Well I need something that's 207 cubic inches to put in each chamber. That's about .12 cu ft.
But also need that space behind for proper pole venting, or so I've heard. Any ideas?

I wouldn't fill the space. It's very close to being ideal. The larger enclosure thing will have two effects on the subs/sound. It will increase the bottom end (low notes) and it will slightly (very slightly) decrease the power handling of the subwoofers.

In your case the increased bottom end is probably quite enjoyable so you may not want to reverse it. The power handling "issue" in your case really isn't considering that you're running only 100watts to each sub. You're not in danger of overpowering them so try not to worry. Your next step if you wanted more out of the system, in my opinion, would be to buy a more powerful amp.

Glad you're happy with the setup! Budget isn't bad; it's even better knowing you saved cash!

    Next amp is JL 500/1v2.
Ive seen rhino lined boxes. Thinking about it and then cutting the back plastic and doing the same

I think there was a guy who figured out that you can take apart the rear seats and move the latches to a second bolt hole. Doing this gives you an extra 1-1.5" of clearance from the seats. That should make it so you don't have to remove the backs.

    I need that link!!!
But I was talking about the plastic on the back wall. The way to make it look finished with out exposed metal.
But I wanted w3s...that seat relocation thing is the answer!

If its louder than a ported type r on any decent amount of power you did something wrong. I have more faith in a type r than 95% of JL subs, that being the 6 and 7

How is that doing something wrong? You just really hate JL don't you?

They charge an arm and a leg for mediocre subs, would you pay 20k for a ford tempo?

It is true that they are overpriced but you can't deny that they are good sub's.

    It's all opinionated.
I'm just saying the SEALED type r I had sounds muddy. And these sound good given the limitations of the truck.
But how do I move these seats forward?
