I am new to trucks, my 1st real post on modifications - I have searched for a while for a soft tonneau cover here. I think its the best option for me over the topper, hard cover, etc...

So, that being said, here is the crieteria I am looking for...

    1) Low profile
    2) Easy to put on - I don't mean initial install. I mean when using it. My buddy had one that needed pulled on each side and hooked or buttoned and in the winter this sucked to do. So, I am hoping there is an easier solution
    3) Works with the channel system in place
    4) No drilling to install it initially

I am looking at the following:

    1) Bestop ZipRail Soft Tonneau Cover (15108-01)

Cannot tell if this works with requirement #2 AND #3 above.

    2) Smittybilt Smart Cover Trifold Tonneau Cover (2640011)

Cannot tell if this works with requirement #3 above.

Are there any cons to these I am unaware of since I am new to trucks? This is mostly a street truck with a 40 mile commute daily.

    Please advise!

    Thanks!

The BEST covers that work with the track system are the Access brand. The Limited style is the most popular. It mounts behind the track giving almost unobstructed use. Easy to install and operate.

If you don't want a Velcro roll-up, stick with the tri-folds. Extang Trifecta is the best choice here, followed buy the Torza. Beyond these two, all the rest are just cookie cutter clones with a different sticker on the box.

I installed an Access roll up cover on my 2012 and really like it. The roll up cover makes it very easy to utilize the whole bed when needed.

With the Access cover, you remove the bed tracks then re-install them, mounting the tonneau cover rails behind the tracks. It took me a couple of hours but it wasn't hard.

Glad to hear 3 votes for the access - Thats a good sign. I called Bestops and the lady didn't even know I meant by the channel system. She said to ask someone else...That in itself disappointed me! :(

Ok, I will research the access covers now!

Access Roll-up right here! Best money I spent on my truck hands down. No bows or anything to store once it's rolled-up, and no snaps to worry about in the winter. Sounds like a drum when I close the tailgate. :D

Scott TAO is a good guy, he has hooked me up a couple time but I got my Access Limited from Truck Alterations also a vendor here. They had the best price.

I Have one, I love it... Get a pop-n-lock also, if you don't have a locking tailgate. Takes 20 mins to initially install, takes 1 min to remove if you need the full bed. Most times I can get away with folding it up.

Truxedo Lo Pro, Just got mine and I have no complaints, Very low profile can still use the tie downs but the mini tie downs would probably work better.

Thanks for chatting friday evening and talking me thru things, Scott.

I landed up going with the Access Limited version based on Scott's expert advice and he did hook it up. I personally did not find a cheaper price around. Now, I called Truck Alterations before I started talking to Scott based on searches I had done. I got a VM. I left them a message and never heard back by end of day. So, I went with Scott which I am ok especially given his personalized attention and shopping experience!

Sorry if this is too late for the OP, but I have an Advantage and love it. It's got four cam-lock clamps that fit into the rails, and it folds into thirds. It has snap retainers so you can drive with it folded toward the cab.
It cost around $400 at a local van conversion supply and trim shop a few years ago. I've got a 2005 Access Cab model.

I wanted a retractable cover and went with Pace Edwards bedlocker (electric). One of the best purchases I have made!

I've owned my Access cover for almost a year now and like it a lot. Easy to install, still tight and does what it's supposed to. My only complaint is that it can be noisy at times going down the highway. If I had to do it all over again, I'd get a hard retractable cover.

I have the access tonneau low profile for the bed rail system. Very nice and quick to open or close. Even has a locking mechanism to keep honest people out.
