Google Map link to the exact spot where we'll be

Where: northern area of SB Cove, Bartlett Lake AZ (map link above)
When: Friday night, 5pm until whenever, July 20 2012

Due to the success and fun we had last weekend with the catfishing trip up at SB Cove, I'd like to gauge interest on doing it again this coming weekend. Our summer is limited and the fish are aggressive so let's take advantage.

For the first meet, some people voted for Saturday night the 21st. Is that still a good night for most? I'll put up a poll.

Before we go, we'll need to devise some better ways to store our bluegills so they don't die so easily in those trolling buckets. I have a 5 gallon bucket with a ton of holes drilled in it that we can use, but I think we need even more space than that. Those floating fish baskets would work, too, as long as there is a good water exchange and we don't have too many fish in one place. I think at one point my small 1gal bait bucket had over 2 dozen bluegills in it.

Post up if you want to go again soon. I'm thinking either this weekend or the next.

The timing worked out good this past weekend when Bryan and I got to the lake at 5pm and had a solid hour to haul in about 3 dozen bluegills. When Scott showed up at about 6:30, the bluegill bite was shutting off fast and the baitfish/shad were rolling into the cove in big boils. My goal would be to get some of us out there by 5 to catch bait because live bluegills were what was working. Everyone else could straggle in afterwards.

I'm definitely down for Friday night. Wifey is going out with the girls so nothing to interfere with this one.

Friday night worked good for me, too. I felt like Saturday was Sunday so it was like gaining an extra weekend day.

Sorry the poll doesn't give multiple options. I forgot to check the multiple option box. Just pick what works best.

I think this Friday works best.

I suggest everyone bring their own trucks so you can leave if you want. Nothing worse than being stuck waiting for others, or not wanting to leave and your ride has to go. Also, we can spread out our trucks to occupy a bigger area of the shore.

Let's not be cheap on gas, folks. It's not that far.

I like the way you think! The more space we occupy the better! It'll keep everyone else away!!!

Also, everyone please have your own gear and bait if possible, or make suitable arrangements. If you need something, just ask. Just remember that a lot of us have invested serious money into quality gear that we know how to operate and that isn't always loanable.

If you want to use live bait, either bring it or plan on being out there at 5pm to give yourself enough time to catch bluegills. We will need about a dozen sunfish per fisherman to make it through the night with the die-off and bait changes, so come prepared.

I saw a 14' baitcasting 2 piece rod at Sportsman's Warehouse for only $39. Was thinking of putting my Penn graphite baitcaster on that bitch and surfcasting the fuck out of a bluegill a mile out. Just because.
