I'm in the midst of replacing my alternator and I've got the new one installed with the bolts left slightly loose for play. Ive got the belt wrapped around all the pulleys (all in place not on any edges) except for the last "smooth" pulley next to the alternator. The belt is going over the top instead of wrapping underneath like its supposed to. I did this because it was too hard trying to get the alternator bolted in while pulling the belt tight. How do I get this thing under the pulley? I loosened up that smooth pulley to release tension ( thought it was the tensioner pulley) but I need more play. Text me for pics I'm on my iPhone right now, 7142716179
Any advice? Is there another accesory pulley to get more slack or should I take off that pulley that I loosened altogether? :O

I'm pretty sure I did. It's the pulley directly left of the alternator if your looking at it standing in from of the drivers side headlight. I loosened that one a bit earlier and the belt gave a little so I thought that was it

no I think that's the idler you're talking about.
can you see the pic I posted?

get a ratchet and socket on the tensioner pulley and rotate it to the driver's side (it's tough) and you should be able to slip the belt over.
