I'm getting tired of all the wires for my satellite radio and my ipod. Plus the tape deck to aux jack cable is a pain when switching between the two.

So I'm looking for something that has an aux port, USB jack and satellite radio. I don't necessarily need navigation. Any ideas?

I was looking at this but it might be a little out of my price range.

What do you need a USB jack for? The ipod and sat radio use a AUX jack right? That one looks nice, also you can find some cheap ones at ebay, I saved $120 on ebay versus going to circuit city to get my last flip-out touchscreen...guess thats why they went under

I want a USB jack so I can hook up an external hard drive with tons of music on it. Plus an Ipod interface so I can play pandora. One of the downsides of the radio I was looking at is that you have to by the $75 thing to be able to hook up a sat radio. And yeah, I've been finding them cheaper as well. It's good to shop around..

45acp says it works great and sounds great. It also has a lot of great reviews on Crutchfield

IMHumbleO a lot of these consumer level manufacturers have really gone down in quality. It's all a part of the race to put products out faster and cheaper :notsure:

I've had 2 versions of the avh-p2300dvd and it's freaking awesome. Play's ipod and controls it with touch screen.

one was a previous model. i think the 3200? then for my birthday i got the new one. I know the new 2300 was a bit more upgraded than the 3200 but i can't remember off the top of my head.

    Cool.

So it had nothing to do with the head unit crapping out or anything?

I currently run two of the Pioneer touch screens. A avh-p4200dvd and an avh-p4300dvd. Pleased with both. Put the 4200 in a camry and been running it a while. Like the controls and quality. Nice adjustablity. No time align though, but a good solid unit. Same with the 4300 just put in the Tacoma. Really like them. Nice to have the back up cam hooked with the camper shell on so can see posts etc while backing up.
iPod control really nice. Controls complete unit, displays album art, info, searchable, random etc. etc. I like that the usb is on the back (specifically one of the reasons I went with these) as don't like cables hanging everywhere. For Sirius I believe you have to have an add on unit to run it. I had Sirius on the camry, but used my portable dock unit to do it so I could also run it in the house. Also, only one subscription for it. Found I listened to the ipod on shuffle more than anything so dumped the Sirius.

Only thing to watch with the Pioneers is that while removing RCA cables you need to have no power going to anything. I remove the battery cable while working on anything. Pioneers have/had an issue with the pico fuse located in the unit blowing. Not a biggie, but you'd get noise in the system when it blew. Many added a ground from the ground shield on the rca to the unit. I'd rather not mess with it so I'm just careful when working on anything or setting levels.

Anyway, not sure if it helps, but plenty happy with the Pioneers I'm running. Don't remember the latest gen of what I have (perhaps a 4400, don't know), but maybe look at that. No built in Sirius still I think, but last I saw it was in the $400 range depending on where you buy.

    Cheers

Thanks for all the info...I'm leaning toward the 8400.

It sucks you have to get the adapter to run sirius but I got suckered into a lifetime subscription a few years ago. The issue with this is I think they charge you a $75 fee to switch it over to another radio and you can only do this 3 times during your "lifetime".

Anyway, if I pull the trigger on this I'll post some pics.

Looks like a nice head unit. Not looked into the specs heavy, but pretty loaded and I assume what looks like apps with your iphone. Pandora can be nice too if you have the phone hooked up and plan to support it.

Not sure how the subscription you have works. Ours was a subscription for 12 or 24 months and then month to month or some such. Don't remember now. Just remember that they said we had to have a subscription for the portable dock unit and another subscription if we put sirius in the car. Went with the portable as then just one subscription and could use it in both.

As I said, ended up getting rid of it as we ended up listening to the ipod all the while.

Looks like crutchfield has a rebate on the sirius/xm antenna module. Still, might find it cheaper on other sites. Only issue would be authorized (ie Pioneer warranty) or non authorized (may not have a warranty), but I guess you could always get one of those square trade warranties if you went that route.

Might have a look at Al & Eds electronics online. They used to have a deal where they matched lowest advertised price (even non authorized) and they were a Pioneer authorized seller so full factory warranty. I got the 4200 from them ages ago. Seemed pretty good to deal with.

The 4300 I cheaped on and bought new, but of eBay and put a squaretrade on it to cover it.

    Cheers

i know you don't need nav but, the pioneer i have has been great iirc its the avic x920bt.

either way its a nice looking head unit and i never had any issues with it the nav & bluetooth are actually quite good. thats not usually the case from what i have read about others.
