False, I've never had any traction issues with my KM2s in rainy or snowy weather, and I've logged over 75,000 miles with KM2s.

It comes down to how you drive.

The guy asked for experiences and I gave it. Nobody is right or wrong here.

On wet highways at highway speeds - they hydroplane easily. The standard BFG M/T tire (KM?)

I got 70k on the MTs and 52k on the AT. The MTs broke loose on wet pavement but kicked ass off in the sticks. Now I bought Cooper ATPs about 5k ago and so far I have found them to be eqaul to the ATs in handling, traction on and off road, and they are super quiet. I dont know if they will last as long but so far they look new and I can find no fault in them. Great price too. .02

Yup! I hear ya! I've got over 85,000 miles on mine now, with lots of life left, & I gotta say, these tires have taken all that I've thrown at 'em. Whether it's driving 100's of miles out in Death Valley, or deep snow, these tires have performed perfectly. All I've done is rotate every 5,000 miles, check pressure, & every year have them balanced. I'm getting a new set later this year. I'm sold!;)

I just obey the speed limit!!!

But yeah that's true, I haven't had the original BFG KMs, so those might be a little bit more slick on wet roads.

Love my ATs. They hum a little bit, but not bad at all. They feel ridiculously stable to me on most conditions. Do really well on the road.

I've open mindedly thought about all kinds of AT's but my best experience so far has been hands down BFG because I made my last set of AT's last 100k miles! I'm not crazy about the look of Bridgestone's even though I know they're good tires.

a little late to this thread but I have to stand by my bfg at's I got them in 2007 and have put over 50k on them and they still have plenty of tread left, they have handled everything I've thrown at them rain mud and deep tahoe snow, best tire I've ever owned, I won't think twice at the price just because it's an amazing tire and hasn't let me down yet

    Nope.

    Dead balls accurate.

The guys at Discount Tire, where I bought them and got them rotated every 6K, were pretty shocked. At 100,000 miles the guy said the rubber compound is beyond compromised even though the tread is still good.

I went one more winter then bought new ones before the wheeling season.

went from ATs to KM2s. They are louder but can still hold a conversation at normal levels in the cab. I'm going back to ATs though. I do enough highway driving that I'd like a smoother ride.

having had both at's and mt's on my lifted jeep and now mt's on my taco, i have to say the mt's are by far my favorites. And i never minded three hour highway trips to the beach with 33x11.5 mt's (and thats in a manual 98 wrangler to boot ;) )

I use Michelin AT2, I have been really impressed with their off road grab and street performance as well. They are very quiet, look great, last about 100k (depending how you drive). I towed a trailer with my 2wd prerunner down a beach without airing down at all. I wasn't concerned about getting stuck because my buddy had a 4wd, but he has a harder time with a similar load in 4wd with shitty highway tires.
