When you figure it out, let me know.

I've done a small bit of research. Best I can figure - if you want to stick close to stock - you can pull the headliner, and gut the overheads.

Speakers will mount in the rear doors - but you'll have to cut a hole in the panel for the grill and possibly make a speaker mount. Run the overhead wire to the speaker in the door.

I haven't worked out the details fully, yet. And I haven't verified that the 2012s also have the speaker holes in the rear doors that the 09-11s do.

I recently added some RAAMmat and Ensolite to my doors, floors and rear wall.

Here are some pics of the doors for you. The speaker hole is there. You'll need a bracket from ********* or Crutchfield (use the 05-08 tacoma to search). And of course, you'll need to run the wires.

    Hope this helps.

Satoshi'd grill. blacked out badges. aftermarket sound system. De-chromed and color matched. OME 885s + Dakars with 3rd leaf removed. LR UCAs. Scs stealth 6 with 285 duratracs. BAMF sliders
With alot of aftermarket speakers you can use the speaker grill to mount the speaker flush to the door panel. You would still have to cut the hole in the door panel of course and you would still have to mount it where the old speaker mounting location is to allow for the depth of the speaker. I planned on doing this in my 09 access, but after i installed my front components (boston acoustic sr60s) amp and sub (8 inch shallow mount rockford fosgate p3 punch) i was very happy with the sound and decided to wait on the rear speakers. Earlier today i hooked up some bose speakers from my home entertainment system just to see how it sounded. They evened out the bass coming from the back of the cab and i liked the difference so i will probably be cutting up my door panels soon. Ill post pics if i do, or if you go for it i would like to see how it comes out
