I stole this pic from the XSP-X YZW Q 42 - BRZ thread. I have seen another truck with this on it too. I was wondering if it is available to buy somewhere or as an accessory.
I am referring to the silver part that is bolted on the lower fascia of the bumper. Is it metal?

    Thanks,
    Dave

I agree the XSP-X is not to my taste, but I am curious about that part on the bumper.

    What the hell is that?

And I dig the new front end, especially in person.

I bet it's plastic. It looks like silver paint, and it's probably just painted that way with some fake bolts added to it due to the package. I'm not a fan of the LED lights under the headlights. Everyone is adding LED lights now, and it's becoming a little cheezy (no offense to those who have them).

You mean the plastic lower valence on the front bumper?

That ain't no skid plate. And neither is the stuff under the truck.

its probably not for sale. the black fj wheels on the trial team model you need a vin number to purchase them. this was done in an attempt to keep them fj unique it has cut down on others buying them and sticking them on everything.

so if this is what toyota calls a "special edition" nowadays it maybe kept vehicle specific like those fj wheels. either way the skid isn't even a skid its thin as can be it will protect absolutely nothing.

God damn that's an ugly truck. The 2012 front end was bad enough, but now they need to add more shit to it?

Sounds like someone is jealous they don't have a 2012. No need to hate on the 2012 restyling, Brah. It really isn't that much different from yours.

I think the real question is, why does the guy in the OP's picture look so intense? lol

Probably not the best pic to post if you didn't want people getting distracted and off-topic...but I digress...

Yeah, that's just the standard 2012MY bumper, except that on this particular xtra-special model they put a silver one on a black truck, whereas they are normally dark grey or color-matched, depending on the trim package you have.

Can't imagine you'd be able to buy it as a separate part, would probably have to re-do the entire front end...or at least the bumper.

Try again. I think you can keep the 2012 front end. I'm happy with mine, thanks. If you like the 2012, yay. Keep it.

If you look at the other thread it says he is looking at the sticker price.

The silver thing is a cover or something on the plastic lower bumper. Even if it were metal, I imagine it is still plastic underneath.

There is a different skid though - it looks like it has xsp-X etched into it. I don't think the OR skids come that far forward.

Skid plate looks like it'll fold into the bumper if it ever actually skids across anything....

I really don't see how a 2011 owner could say the 2012 styling is ugly since it wasn't a big change. You added the "God d%$n" in there like it was super ugly. I could see a 2005 Tundra owner not liking the 2012 Tundra because of the huge restyling and size difference.

    Whatever floats your boat.

    Just the front end. Re-read.

    The XSP-X is super ugly.

    Bingo.
