X2. There is no one size fits all hitch/ball. There are different size drops and balls. If Toyota supplied a 1" drop with a 2 1/4" ball, but you needed a 3" drop with 2" ball, it wouldn't do you any good and it would just be a waste of Toyota's money.

Way too many variables when it comes to drawbars and hitch balls. I'd be happier if the side windows in the rear of access cabs opened as vents.

If Toyota had included a tongue and ball, I'd have probably had to toss it anyway. It's bad enough I kept the set from my last vehicle and it's useless with the Taco because of the drop difference. I ended up picking up a two-ball (2" x 2-5/16") Tow & Stow unit from B&W. Works great for everything I need.

Bah, my dad had a Dakota that came with factory tow package.......... it had a four wire harness WITHOUT a connector on it........and a hole in the bumper for a ball. The bumper was rated at 2000 pounds......lot of good that "tow package" did. It raised the tow rating to 6,400 pounds, but no way to hook a trailer that size up to the truck. LOL

Sounds like sig material to me.:D

While these are very versatile, there are two troubles with them, one is more "slop", the other is the overall length. The extra 5 - 6 inches have a huge negative effect of weight distribution. And speaking of which, maybe a weight distributing "hitch" ( yeah, whipper, I know, but thats what they are called ) is really what you should be using, depending on what you are towing. Way too many variables. Would make more sense to have a built -in brake controller, like Furd and maybe others do.

    I didn't get one with my $53,000 Duramax 4x4 LT3 2500HD

You expect one with a $25k Toyota?

My 2012 came with the two inch drop receiver just no ball in it. Any other 12 owners get one with their purchase? It Was in a white box under the back seats with the bed tie downs.

I think there was an option on the '12 for the mount and 4 pin connector for only $75. no ball included. Now THAT's a deal. The dealership went ahead and tossed in a 2" ball for "free". Too bad the jon boat trailer i inherited a week later after the Taco purchase takes the 1 7/8". Damn Toyota, didn't your fortune tellers advise you? lol

My 2007 AccCab came with a receiver but no ball. It even has a place to tie it down next to the jack in the cubby under the pax side rear seat. It also came with the 7/4 pin adapter.

dont feel too bad, i had to trade my buddy for the one that came on his chevy. chevy was over compensating and nearly drug on the ground, like a 3 1/2" drop, whilst toyota's was pretty much 0" drop. once we switched they were both at the perfect height
