on youtube look up james yeager @ tactical response he has a few really good videos explaining body armor.

if you are serious about this tacoma world wouldn't be a place to ask questions.
this along with the fact that your screen name is killer and you mentioned the colorado shooting make you sound crazy. while buying body armor is not crazy i guess the way you went about asking on a truck forum kind of is :)

I'd like to know what makes you think the military guys here would know anything more about civilian body armor than anyone else. You wouldn't be stereotyping the PTSD suffering, paranoid, anti-social, OD field jacket and black stocking cap wearing Vet with an arsenal of weapons, gas mask, and body armor in the bedroom closet would you?

There is a Law Enforcement section here. I would ask them since they wear the stuff every day.

When I was a cop I always carried my SWAT gear with me whether I was in my cruiser or truck, off call or on call. I am no longer a city cop, or SWAT, but as a federal agent who isn't issued, or required to wear a vest, it still hangs in the back of my truck. I always wear my duty weapon and the way the world is today you never know when a crazy situation will find you. It will find me armed and at least a little bit protected. Sadly, I'm about 40 lbs heavier since I wore it last so my fat ass doesn't stand a chance anyway!

I think most people here are mad at the OP becasue it was an ill-timed post following the CO shooting, and this is a Taco forum site. Add the screen name "Killer" to the fact that the OP wants body armor to the mix and people took exception to that. I know I did and I wear body armor 40 hours + a week. Don't waste your money, you either can't buy it (illegal) or you can't buy anything that will stop anything more than a .22 or .25. I found this video on Police One.com that is actually really well done, and makes sense for civilians. Active shooters are bad news. If you are armed and can engage, DO. If you are not then get the hell out of there.
