I went thru this same scenario about a month ago...Tacoma TRD sport or Tundra Rock Warrior. Parking, mileage and towing didn't matter to me. With all the incentives on the Tundra I had the price within 1k of the Tacoma. After going back and fourth for about a week I went with the Tacoma, I just think it looks so much better.

I would like to have the room and comfort of a Tundra, but a Tacoma is like a 5 spoke wheel..it never goes out of style.

I have had both. I traded a 2011 Rock Warrior for my 2012 Baja. The only thing I miss is the power of the 5.7 and that power rear window. If you off road at all the taco is a much better choice.

    Exactly!

I'd like the room and comfort of the Tundra too, and it's also cheaper. And yet the Tacoma calls to me!

does MPG affect your decision? A few people i know with Tundras are averaging 13MPG, compared with the 18 i am getting on the 4.0 Taco.

It matters a lot. I was looking at the 4.6 engine. Do you know what engines your friends have?

4.6 & 5.7. they both get very similiar. Check out fuelly.com and you can see real world averages based on specific model and hwy/city driving.

honestly, thats probably the main reason i went with a tacoma. Also, the tacomas hold better resale value. All the way up to the finance office i amost backed out and get a tundra...

I have had both. Traded in my 05 double cab sport sure a 2012 crewmax and couldn't be happier. Did lots of freeway diving in the taco and got a consistant 16.5 mpg. The tundra even with the 5.7 on the same drive I have gotten from 18 up to 22 mpg. Around town the taco was about 13 and the tundra is between 15 abd 17. Lots more room in the tundra and I do tow my crawler occasionally and it pulls so nice.

3000lb boat infrequently. Worried about tundra mpg now. Fuelly makes it hard to sort out all the 4.6 engines.

    Don't buy a 2012 Tundra or 2012 Tacoma.
Buy a first gen taco AND first gen tundra and have money left over for toys.

I had a Tundra and it's a beast, if you get Tundra go with 5.7.

If you haul alot of people around on a regular basis or just love to have tons of space, I would definitely say Tundy. My mom has a crewmax and the back seat is more roomy than the front! I love my taco but I would be all over the Tundra if given the opportunity. Its like the rolls royce of trucks haha of course with that being said if you like to off road alot i would say tacoma! small and lightweight.

Again the idea of having all that room sounds pimp, even if I'll hardly ever use it. Just like my double cab Tacoma. I never use that back seat, but it's nice to have.

And my dclb is sometimes tricky to park, but it doesn't upset me one bit. I can imagine trying to park a crewmax.

Just figured out how to use Fuelly... use Google!

    https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ie=UTF-8&ion=1#q=4.6+tundra+site:fuelly.com

Looks like avg of around 15-16. Not nearly as good as I'd hoped for!
