Deck plate mod finished!

i just got done installing the deck plate and took it for a test drive..it sounds so much better! the acceleration is more responsive now and when i fill up again ill see if it improves my gas mileage a little bit..freakin only cost me 10 bucks to do the mod compared to the price of a cai

get rid of the silencer and it will sound even better.

 

good job. the deckplate dyno's pretty damn good.....way better results with that over a cai............and its about the best "bang for the buck" mod you can do.

thanks guys..i got the deck plate from a local boating store. i taped off one of the silencers today and now its even louder. climbing to 70 mph on the entry ramp made my truck just as loud (or at least pretty close) as my friends chevy thats got a flowmaster on it..

 

the air flow on the first gen. is really restricted so cutting a hole in the air box gets a butt load of air to the engine so it can breathe easier..improves hp, acceleration, etc

 

I am completely new to this mod and am looking into do it. I saw that you had what looked like a cap on top of the box. Does that go back on after you show what you did or did it just come with it.Also do you just cut a whloe and thats it or is their more to this? Sorry for the stupid questions but like i said i am really new to this and interested.

 

what i did was cut a hole and the deckplate that i got has an outer ring that it screwed onto the box over the hole. The cap that is sitting on the box can be screwed into the ring. the purpose of the mod is that the hole cut in the air box gets a bunch of air to the engine. so for the most part you leave the cap off - but if you know youre gonna be in dusty or wet conditions, then the cap can simply be screwed back in place to cover the hole..hope that helps

 

will this mod do anything for a 4cylinder?

 

yeah thats what its for a four cylinder. its better for tthe first gens than a COld air intake IMO

 

Is it in anyway hard or bad for your motor? Im guessing no cause it still runs through a filter right?

 

correct, but like it was said above, if you plan on going through some crappy conditions or even mudding through that cap back on there to be safe
