    Hello,

I've got a combination of dash lights (brake, ABS and slip), and ScanGauge reports no codes. I've been trying to trouble shoot this for a while, so I can't remember what originally set them off.

There seem to be no normal performance issues, however 4wd does not engage, and the VSC control button is doing nothing.
I'm assuming it is a sensor issue, however I was hoping someone else has had a similar problem in the past.

They are likly all linked to the anti lock brake system could have a bad wheel sensor or the control module could be at fault. Disconnect the battery for 10-15 minutes and then check it. You may have to have a dealer put the scanner on it. Odd that you dont have a trouble code.

Tried the disconnect battery and disconnect brake control tricks.

Dealer scan is my next step, but it's a step I don't want to take.

Only option. It's normal for VSC to be disabled with ABS and even some CEL codes.

Did you check your brake fluid level?

I have the same problem, and is being more than a year already with this issue. I took the truck to the dealer one day for transmition oil change, and told them if they can check why these lights are on, and ended being a speed sensor. I know for sure that my ABS are not working, so just a heads up...

You're scan gauge will tell you generic codes from the engine/ECT section of the vehicles ECU. However, it will not scan the VSC/ABS/TRAC ECU. This MUST be scanned by a dealer.

You need a real scanner to retreive those codes.

So I did the scan I and got 8 codes from 3 different places....

    Skid gave me 43, 53, and 98
    ABS gave me 34
    Airbag gave me 35, 37, 55, 55

Not sure I'm reading your chart right, but does that mean I have:

    1. 43 - malfunction in decel sensor
    2. 52 - ???
    3. 98 - ???
    4. 34 - Left rear speed sensor
    5. 35 - metal stick to speed sensor (FR)
    6. 37 - different diameter tire malfunction
    7. 55 - ???
    8. 56 - ???

The common component is all those malfunctions is the Brake actuator (ECU control) so I'll start trouble shooting that.

Alright, found this page: only the ABS code matters, time to troubleshoot my left rear sensor.

Alright, turns out my left rear speed sensor was loose:facepalm:

I did the DTC reset (smaked that pedal 8 times with the wire still in, heard everything start to whirrrr)

But I'm still getting a 43 code from the skid and 34 code from the ABS.

Is there something else I need to reset, or was to loose wire just the start of my problems?

When you checked the brake fluid level was it just within the marks or was it toward the upper end of the 'good' zone. The fluid level needs to be toward the upper end otherwise you can get the BRAKE light. Might not be it but it'd be good to rule that one out.

    He already found his problem.

Also as a side note, low brake fluid will only cause the brake light to come on, not the VSC ABS or TRAC lights.

As of this afternoon he hadn't found his problem or he wouldn't have posted that he still had codes...

I wasn't aware of what causes the VSC and TRAC lights. I don't have those. My brake light came on because of low fluid.

Well, at this point I would test all the wires from the speed sensor & deceleration sensor to the brake ecu. If you have good wires then you likely have a bad wheel speed sensor and deceleration sensor.

The deceleration sensor is below your drivers seat under the carpet.

wire RL+ was snipped just shy of the sensor.

    Stripped, soldered, shrinked, solved.
