Some of the best pepper spray out there is the brand called FOX Labs.

Especially their new line called Mean Green. Kimber of America has an interesting product called the Jet Protector. It fires the OC at a very high speed causing it to seep into orifices of the face and has a greater reach than OC. And much less affected by the wind, that may cause blow back.

The pistol shape may be a deterrent too. Uses a pyrotechnic means to propel the irritant.
