    CANCELLED

What: Camping, fishing and crayfish boil/cookout, poker, horseshoes, & more!
    When: August 17-19
Where: Knoll Lake, Mogollon Rim AZ

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

A few of us have been talking about going back up to Knoll Lake for a revisit of the trip we did last month. Everything was a success for the most part, and now that it's deeper into the summer the crawdads should be at full tilt and easy pickings.

Pick the weekend that works best for you in the poll. Choose as many weekends as you can that would work for you. This would be a 3 day, 2 night deal like the last time (Friday morning through Sunday afternoon) but you could always come up later (or earlier) and make it an overnighter if you want.

Horseshoes were pretty damn fun, poker worked out really well, and having that full day Saturday to fish and do whatever we wanted sure was nice. Also the Saturday night cookout where everyone pitched in a meal was awesome. I say this time we all cook our food close together and share it right when it comes off the fire. We should make a big community area with our chairs, tables and easy-ups, too.

I would also like to take the "other" way in from the west to this spot instead of overshooting so far to the east and going up the rim via the 260. If we continue up the 87 and take the "appropriate" turnoff to Knoll Lake just past Strawberry (not the road where we came out last time), we'll have a pretty decent scenic route right along the entire rim and also shave off some distance.

For details on the last trip, which we would basically mimic, go here:

I didn't put August 3-5 on the list because that would get me home a day before I head back out of town to go to Cedar Point amusement park for 4 days. I don't want to come home burnt out and get on a 6am flight the next morning.

As far as being work-related, I'd love to just add on to my full week of PTO and go on the 10th of August. That's my top pick weekend so far. Might as well make it a week and a half vacation with rollercoasters and camping.

No but it helps cover the cost of fuel, trap supplies, time and effort :p

Actually if we haul in tons of these and have extras, we'll boil them and put them in the cooler to bring home.

Ok it looks like August 17-19 is winning the race. Let's lock it in and get vacation time requests in at work and make commitments. I'm putting in for it today.

Looks like this will be pushed back a bit. Adam is on vacation right now.

We've had a backpacking trip planned during the 18th and 19th.

OMG Bryan I completely forgot about this trip. First of all, I am stuck in CA until late Friday night on business, so the Friday morning departure wouldn't have worked. Also Steve and I did plan a backpacking trip for this weekend solely due to the fact that there was minimal response so I forgot I even posted this. It fell so far down the list of AZ topics that it slipped my mind.

I hope the Friday request for time off doesn't put you in a bind.
