255 Tire Size Thread ?

Oz I know you run a wider tire but secretly I think you want to run some 255's

 

I was down to 2 choices in size when I got new tires , 255/80/17 and 275/70/17 , I kinda wish I had got the 255's now

 

There's always next time! Hard to find a reasonable LT in 255 at least in the searching I've done.

 

I was going to get the KM2's but got worried about snow performance

 

I might look at those. I think I may have settled on the Revo 2's but I can't take those off the shelf for less than $210 a piece. Had them on my 03 and they were animals in all conditions.

 

My 275/70/17 Hankook ATm's were $1400 installed and balanced

The 255s are nice, just wish there were more manufacturers making them. My km2s have done well but we didnt get crap for snow last year so if there are any blizzards this winter I guess I'll really find out how well they do in snow.

 

I love the tall-skinny tire look. I plan on running 255/85-16 KM2's once all is said and done.

On my 4Runner, I ran a 33x10.5 KM2's and they did FANTASTIC in all types of terrain, great tire for snow, the fact that they are skinny and a mud tire really lets you power through the snow.

 

I had 255/70R17's on my Pathfinder and plan on running the same Revo 2's on my Tacoma when my wheels arrive...never had any issues in performance going from 265 to 255 on my Pathfinder...

 

I know I've posted this in other threads, but I got 255/75/17 KM1's barely used for $300 and havent looked back. Once I run these down I'll probably do the same thing again unless I bump up to 285's. If you look on your local craigslist I can almost guarantee someone is selling this exact tire in lightly used or even new condition. This is the factory tire on Jeep rubicons and people often upgrade to 33's or 35's right off the bat and dump them for cheap on craiglist. Being a factory option for jeeps also means they are widely available if I ever were to get a blowout somewhere on the trail. I have had these for like 6 mo. in every condition (sand, deep mud, rocks, road) and can't say I've had a problem with them other than a few slideouts on wet pavement. They dominate on rocks and mud, and aren't horribly loud on the road (slightly louder than km2s).

1 to 2 MPGs less Hwy than when I'm running the stock Dungflops so around 22.5 to 23.5 instead of 23.5 to 24.5. The extra miles covered need to be figured (I cheat & use the miles from my GPS when doing MPGs and reset it every time I fill up). The speedo will read 5 MPH less with the 255s instead of 2 MPH more with stock.

 

those look really good dude, im either sticking with 285s or 255s. im not sure what to get.
