    Okay, so here's the situation.....

Installing an OEM roof rack on my double cab. There are two brackets that are almost but not quite identical that hold the rails...One is marked RH and the other LH....

So, being the dumb guy I am, is it RH/LH looking FROM the front towards the rear or RH/LH as you sit in the truck? DUH...........

I can't really tell by placing the brackets where they install and switching them........

    :confused::confused::confused:

    Many, many thanks!

Ok....if you're going down the street and need to take a "LEFT", which way to you turn? Towards the driver's side or towards the passenger's side?

Take pics and document the mod. Others here, including Moi are interested in this.

Where did ya get that rack? (Hmmmm....sounds like a cheesy pickup line.)

Was in a hurry so just went to ebay... $220, dealer wanted $525 installed...

Started to document but camera is on the fritz... It's a simple install if you know you RH from your LH......

Peel off the ditch moldings and the front clips...
Open up the weldnuts... they're covered with tape, just took an xacto and opened them up, 5 to a side...
Install the front brackets where you have to know RH from LH ;)
    Install the rails....
Install RH crossbar, LH crossbar is already on the rail....
Stick down the new ditch molldings......

Directions that come with rack are A1

Even an Ol' Dude can do it!!

And, by the way, a good rack is hard to find these days!!

I'm interested in putting one on my '09...

Let me know if there is any noticeable increase in wind noise...

Also, what is the deal with the cross bars being able to store in the side rails?

    Thanks,

Took about an hour to install and I am definitely a shade tree mechanic...

I don't know why the design with the pivoting crossrails but it works well it seems.

I do know that the crossrails on the FJCruiser I had caused a lot of wind noise...maybe that was the concern...

Let you know how quiet this setup is a little later.......

But admittedly you are old so maybe you just didn't hear any noise? :p and next time you're out test driving a new modification....shut off your turn signal!

Thanks for the input. I do like the look of the factory roof rack.

I'm the blue hair that never uses his turn signal... just hold my 45acp out the window and point in the direction I want to go!!:D:D Never a problem with any turn...........

And to make up for the bad ears, I had all the windows down so I could hear better!! LOL!
