You pretty much have to call an ARE dealer and they want a fortune for them. I want to say they were around $400/each when I inquired. Needless to say I still have my regular sliders.

I just priced out my ARE MX shell and am waiting for delivery. Between snug top, leer, and ARE, ARE windoors were the least expensive of the bunch. Only $135 for vented windoors. I have a short bed so only regular windoors for me and they were $99 each.

That's a good price on the ARE Windoor, compared to Leer. I just got a price from the Leer dealer of $120 ea. for the Windoor, and $190 ea. for the Windoor w/ slider for my ACLB.

Damn dude, your Leer 180 sliding windoor fits the recess, unlike mine. I'm pissed off. Mine bought two months ago also has some cracking on the paint. You and I have the same truck other than the TRD.

Heres the ST Rebel shortbed windoors. I think they look pretty good.

Well, I got a "deal" for the Leer 180 sliding windoors for $120 each, but as noted above they don't fit the recess. So much for the "deal". He was at $180 each, then I said "That's pretty steep." He says, "I can get you down to $120 each", and the pic above is what I got. Ah well, you win some you lose some. Maybe I'll win the lottery then all is moot.

After seeing the pic of your shell that Crom posted earlier in this thread I called the Leer Factory in PA. to ask about it. They asked me what model Tacoma I had and I told them a 2012 ACLB, they said there wouldn't be any issue and that the Windoor will completely fill the recess of their 180 shell for my truck. It sounds like the problem may only be w/ the 180 for certain bed sizes / cab configurations. What truck do you have?

After reading back through this thread, I've noticed that the 2 members (Monkeyface & Joes06Tacoma) who had issues with the Windoors not completely filling the recess of their 180's are both from western states, CO. and CA. respectively. And seeing that Got2ryde is from MD. and didn't have an issue w/ his, and I'm in VA. and was told I wouldn't have an issue w/ mine when I called the Leer plant in PA, I'm now thinking that perhaps the problem is isolated to Leer's 180 shells being produced in either their CA. or IN. plant .

Yankee, I did some really deep digging on the subject and my conclusion was that perhaps, the problem was the source of the glass for the cap makers. For it's worth I had a conversation with a leer plant guy at their California plant and he told me that the windoors would not fit the recesses. So I think between all of our collective experience that very well may be the case.

It's hard to tell what their issue is for sure. But one would think that a company the size of Leer would be able to provide all its customers with the same product. All I know for sure is that after speaking with Leer and having them assure me that my 180 will not have that issue, if it arrives and does have the problem, my dealer will either have to "fix the problem" or, call the police and have me hauled out of there .

It truly is a shame that a customer should even have any apprehension at all about purchasing their product.

Yankee, If I were you I'd get it in writing. Good luck. My ARE MX shell should be here any day now, I've been waiting almost 4 weeks now. Can't wait. getting a shell is very exciting.

When I ordered my ARE MX it showed on the website that the window in the roof (where it raises from cab height) as a "sun roof".
When I got mine, there was a plexiglas there but it was decorative (I.e. didn't let any light in the shell).

After calling ARE several times and getting no where talking to the customer service people I had a buddy of mine get me the email address of the President, Vice President and one of the finance guys.
I emailed and literally within 10 minutes later the Regional Sales Manager called me and explained that they no longer offer the sky light due to leakage issues and agreed to give me roof rack rails for free.
By the end of the week they changed there website to show the window as a "vista glass" which doesn't show it as a sky light.

I also had some paint issues around the windoors where the paint/fiberglass looked like it was cracked which I noticed about 2 years after a got the cap.
Again I emailed everyone and dropped it off at the dealer, within about 2 weeks I had it back all fixed and I haven't had an issue since.

It looks like you got ripped? If it was me I would take that photo of his to show them and tell them they screwed up. Who knows maybe they will do something. Or at least complain to leer corp.

    Great,

If only my subtle forms of persuasion worked as well on women.

I'll take a look at your other post. I got mine with 2 sliding windoors, folding front window (which im to lazy to clean anyway) carpeted inside, clothes hanger and roof rack after the fact.

    Shawn.

I've got a Windoor on the Pass. side and love it so I'm trying to swap out my driver side slider for a Windoor on my 100R and my dealer kinda said the same thing - that the Windoor would not fit. But when I measured the window inserts, they're both the same 13 1/2" x 61 1/2" (long bed) at the rear curve. It seems that the two halves of the window frames are attached with self tapping screws. I've asked Leer for measurements of the cut out required for both but they're balking at providing the answer. Has any body replaced cap windows before? It doesn't look like rocket science, but...

The shop I bought my ARE shell replaced the glass twice on one side, and once on the other. I watched them do it. Very easy. It's just removal of the 20+ hex screws that sandwich it together and it comes right out. Hope this helps.
