I havent even gotten my system in yet. And its a budget build anyway. But I had this brainstorm.

Do guys with really decent systems have to deaden the tailgate? Maybe with expanding foam or something? I saw on 12volt or diyma maybe that guys were deadening trunk lids with foam and I though the tailgate might need some.

    Idk.

    Anyway, discuss.

Kinda confused... But i would think guys are deadening trunk lids because they have subs in the trunk

Your tailgate won't need any deadner just because if it does rattle you won't hear it. Trunk lid's are directly attached to the cab and any noise they make is very noticeable whereas your tailgate isn't.

Ah, that makes sense warhorse. Thanks. I cant find the thread i saw where they deadened the tailgate, but I think they had subs in the bed where deadening the gate would be vital.

My tailgate rattles a little if you listen from outside the truck. But I don't think deadener will stop it. Plus I can't hear it from inside the cab. My blown door speakers make sure I can't hear anything. Looking into replacing those asap.

ha yea if you've got a blow through I would think that you would want to do something about that gate but most likely it could still be left alone.
They're called blow through boxes. Usually people cut a hole in the back of the cab of their truck and build a box to sit in the bed with the subs firing through the hole and into the cab which is sealed from the elements.
