What's the best "deal" out there right now?

Thought I'd start a discussion of the best "deal" guns out there right now. By that, I mean - what guns are available at a price today that we'll be talking about in 5 years like "remember when x were only $y?" I'm always interested in good values.

I'll start with the S&W Model 10 and 64. Right now these guns are in the $200 - $275 range. Many can be found as police & security guard trades with basically no internal wear - the definition of "carried a lot, shot a little." Considering their reputation for rock-solid reliability, smooth triggers and good accuracy, I think these are two very good deals.

While I can't speak to value increasing in 5 years; I still think finding a Mosin Nagant for $100 is a heck of deal. I know 17 million of them in existence and all that jazz, but mine shoots straight, packs a wallop, and the action is pretty smooth. For what I paid for it, it is a heck of a gun. Plus, bayonets are awesome.

Yep, I assumed someone would mention the Mosin. I don't have one, so I had no pics.

The AMD-65 the cheapest AK variant on the market and probably one of the better built ones at that.

Yugoslavian sks. 10 years ago they were $99. Now you are lucky to fine one for less than $400. The surplus dried up a few years ago, and ask they get destoyed, parted out, customised, yadda, yadda, they are only going to get more expensive. Very acurate very kick ass semiauto rifles.

Yup. That's what I'm talking about - what's available cheap today that won't be tomorrow?

I had a chance to pick up German Sig P6s at $250 or so when they came in en masse 2 years ago. The single action 9mm wasn't appealing at the time but I should have bought one. Now they're $400+.

How about we leave politics out of this so the thread doesn't get shut down... I'm actually interested in what people are finding as values today in regards to firearms.

Blue steel version is the Model 10. Stainless version is the Model 64. Same gun otherwise. Either Hogue or Pachmayr grips on it, can't remember. Sold it to a buddy who needed a cheap competition gun for his kid to pay around with.

These go up a little each year. I got a 20ga when I was about 11. The gun and a box of shells was under $100. Now I see them for about $130. Great beginner guns, I still shoot mine. :D

Yup, but you can get used ones for $250 and up.

If you can get to a big show, you can hand pick one. I hand-picked the 2 in my photo at the Tulsa show and had them shipped to my FFL. I was in for less than $500 for both. If you don't want a safe queen you can get one that rode in a holster for years and is basicaly unfired. I saw lots that looked rough but didn't even have a marked cylinder groove! No endshake, tight lockup, perfect timing, no cylinder leading or top strap flame cutting...mechanically new for $250. Perfect truck or trail gun, especially the stainless 64.
