I've got a Chocolate Lab. They're great dogs, this is the first one I've had but my parents always had labs at home.

I love border collies. I had two, I had to have me male put down a few months ago. He was 15 years old. He was the best dog I've ever had, smart, loyal and never met a person that he did not like. My wife and I joked that if any one ever broke into our house, he'd bring them a ball to throw. I also have a female bc that 13 years old and still going strong. She's great too.

One thing to keep in mind for Border Collies is that they were bred to work. So they require lots of attention. To them, work and play are the same thing. You'll find yourself spending lots of time throwing frisbees and tennis balls. If you leave them in the backyard or locked in the house, they find things to do, normally bad things.

That being said, they are great dogs. When we'd go hiking, I never needed a leash, mind were great with kids (my male would herd them), just all around great dogs.

I currently have just a golden retriever. Great, sweet dog but dumb as rocks.

Until recently I had a catahoula leopard dog. He was amazing but unfortunately I live by a highway, he got loose, and he got hit by a car.

I grew up with hounds: beagles and redbones. I wouldn't hesitate to get another.

I have been looking for a dachshund all over lately. Anything below a year or two. I just want a dog that actually likes riding around in the truck and won't get all ansy after 10 minutes.
