Bought a E2 (brand) steel replacement shaft, $10.00, heated to top ball with heat gun , pulled it OFF, chopped 6 inch 0ff, now 24 inches long, heated ball again, re-installed. . Didn't notice a difference in reception yet.

I tried something similar that was 4" tall and my reception sucked. Especially on hwy 36 between westy and boulder. I returned it and just chopped mine since I figured I didn't have anything to lose. I didn't notice any change in reception from the stock antenna to the chopped antenna.

What station do you listen to? I could check and see if it comes in on my radio since I'm not that far from you.

Well, I listen to a bunch from around the Fort Collins area here but the one that is a ways away is KS107.5 and I just barely get reception. Their morning show is the most entertaining so that's primarily when I listen to it. Some of my vehicles get it cleanly here and some don't so I know it's probably the most 'fringe' station I listen to.

i purchased this antenna after giving a good wack to the stock one. i refer to it as the dildo antenna (if you hold it, you'll understand :D) BUT it gets great reception just like the stocker, looks good and if a bird impacts it dead on you have no worries. plus, its less then 7$ and available local.

SCREW those little stubbies, look great but ends there.

No, the reception is definitely crappier then than your stock antenna. But it works fine on the stations that I listen too but not as well on some of the other stations. I mainly needed it for the parking garage so I didnt hit the signs hanging from the ceiling.

I would have bought a different antenna if I knew but it works for me now.

I just cut the stock one off about 8" to 10" and put the ball back on

yes, anything less than 13 inches and your reception suffers quite a bit

Or how about don't take a nice truck/car through a scratch and swirl car wash.

I don't personally but I like your idea. It's also in your manual to remove the antenna before taking the truck through a car wash.

    Hey all!

    1) does cutting the antenna and gluing the ball work for the 2006? There is a coil that wraps around the antenna, does that do anything?

    2) anyone have experience with the AntennaX? 13” off-road in particular?
