Well 1600 miles on the new 12. Fueled it up a few times and it took the fuel no problems, normal. Last refueling, the pump kept bumping off. Had to trickle it in. I think someone tried to syphon my fuel while parked in sketchy part of town for 2 nights. Gas door was ajar and cap loose.

Having had my 95 yota's tank out in the past, I know there is a little springed gate at the top of the tank. I assume this got bunged up and isn't functioning properly, in the failed syphoning.

Anyone have a Tacoma tank out of their trucks? Am I describing this right? Can I access this from the top of the tank w/o dropping it? There might be enuf room? I suspect it is just bent.

Or take it to the dealer under warranty? Would it be honored as a warranty event? Thanks

If they found evidence of tampering (attempted siphoning) then they are not required to repair this under warranty. That being said, if you brought it to them stating you are having a refueling issue, they may look at it as a factory failure if nothing is mentioned. While this is immoral, it will possibly get your truck fixed under warranty. The other option is to file an insurance claim, which can affect your rates, and involve a deductible. You can of course see if you can find the problem and fix it yourself. The device on the tank where the fuel enters, while commonly called and anti-siphoning device, is actually called a rollover device, and is designed to prevent fuel from leaking out the filler neck in the event of a rollover. It appears that something is messed up there, causing fuel to back up and trigger the pumping stations stop control. The fact that you can trickle fuel in means that it is not totally blocked. Another thing could be that whatever they stuck in the neck got broken off, and is blocking the neck partially. If you are careful, you can try to remove the filler neck yourself. As I have yet to have to remove a fuel tank from a 2010 or later Tacoma, I am not sure how easily you can get to the clamp at the tank to remove it.

A lot of gas stations have maladjusted pump handles. Before you conclude that there's something wrong with your truck, try a different gas station.

X3 on what Shemp said. I had it happen before on a previous vehicle, went to another pump and it went in fine.

Op is referring to the anti-tamper device that is down near the top of the tank.
Not sure if it's in the hose or the tank cap itself, but not all vehicles have the flapper door at the top.

I have not had a CEL yet.

Also keeps those from pouring in "unapproved" fuel additives.
