    Obviously. In fact, I very clearly said I've carried more weight. You edited that out when quoting my comment, along with the risk associated with shifting the vehicle's center of gravity higher.

    Regardless, the comment about the roof not reliably supporting more weight assumes a desire to avoid damage (like that in your accident image or otherwise).The thin sheet metal on the roof, for example, is very easily damaged. The plastic & thin aluminum on the OEM roof rack itself has severe limits as well.

    Next to the chrome grill, the OEM roof rack is my least favorite accessory, I actually hate how it looks, but the aftermarket roof racks give the truck a rugged look if you have a need, I have no use for one, my stuff fits in the bed.
