Rich is correct on this one.

I've had a few Harleys...and between the heat and the tourists and the lack of good riding roads...it's one of the many reasons I don't ride anymore.

My 4 day trip to the TN Smokies with a group of buds rocked! my most memorable ride.

I live 10 miles from the Screaming Chicken in San Berdoo (Devore actually).

I have photographs that I can not share.

I could share them in the basement, but out of respect for some in the photos I won't.

Wet t-shirt contests are boring compared to the SoCal bike scene ;)

No bills, 22 and single? No problems $ wise that I see. I make just over 40K a year, single, no bills. I am not living like a king, but I'm far from poor. My town it's around 1,000 a month for a nice 1 bedroom apt. Unless you're hoping to buy a house out here, you'll be fine.

Although I do have to say that if my family was not here, I would probably not stay. It's great weather, and a nice place to live, but I could definitely do better financially somewhere else.

For a 22 year old single man, go for it! Live life. Two years down the road there will either be more money coming your way, or you'll move back to FL. Until then, enjoy the weather.

Oh I def agree with the governing of this state, got no use for libs/dems/repubs. (all parties suck) Ron Paul is the only politician that has made ANY sense...:)

To the OP, obviously it'll be your decision, just want ya to know that not everything you hear about Cali good or bad is going to be true just like anywhere else, sorry for the thread jack & good luck which ever way you go....

& Jim, kinda ignorant to make blanket statements about the residents in any state "Theres nothin' there but homos" (& whatever else you said) Is like me sayin' " Theres nothin' in Florida but Cubans & jews"

I wouldn't worry about gangs, unless you venture into thier territory. Most of SD CO. is a arid enviroment, stay within four or five mile of the coast or you'll bake.

The company is La Mesa RV. It looks like it is in Kearny Mesa just east of North Clairemont.

That's a pretty central location so you should have a lot of good areas to choose from.

    Perfect!
So Allied Gardens, Del-Cero and west Santee are pretty close, good areas. Rent is fairly decent but there will be some pricey complexes, I would stay out of Clairemont and Serra Mesa which are next to Kearney Mesa. Tierra santa is nice but pricey. North of that would be Poway ( where Tyler lives) some good pockets, crime is not all that bad and Mira Mesa, which i would stay away from. Places with high Crime and rent, Mission Valley ( rent) Pacific beach ( rent and crime) La Jolla ( very High rent).

Im sure other folks have suggestions and it does depend if you want to commute or not.

here is a map of the community layout of SD City.

I was wondering why you wanted to move to Sam Diego's place, and why so many here automatically assumed Sam's place was in California. However, I just dismissed it as an obscure reference to the cheery guys in San Francisco. :D

Found some cheaper places for rent in Allied Gardens, and some near the college. Are these areas decent? I looked at the demographics and crime reports but I'd still like a personal opinion. Also, can someone give me a list of areas to stay away from?

    Odds and Ends
Considering your age near the College or in the Pacific Beach area might be good choices, there are tons of tacos about your age in both of those areas, neither are great areas for crime but are certainly much better than other areas. Both areas the parking sucks so be sure you have a garage/driveway or at least assigned parking. Your work place is super central and would be a pretty short commute, give or take for traffic.
