I recently just found out I am going to have to go back to my typical hour and a half/108mile commute to work :( I have 285/70/17 Nitto Trail Grapplers (MTs) which bring my MPG to roughly 16-17. I love the look of the tires and go offroad about twice a month.

With all that said, I've been shopping around for a decent all terrain tire, preferrably in C load. Who here has 2 sets of tires where they keep the offroad stuff stowed away and just roll on the street/all terrain tires in the meantime?

Opinions on which all terrain/highway tire I should look into are more than welcome, but I'd preffer input from those who have had more than one type of tire to compare between. Thanks

I have a different set of tires but i need to find a cheap set of steelies to put them on before i can utilize them. I have hankook dynapro atm's on there now and a set of big o big foots waiting for the steelies. The AT tires definitely hurt my mpg so im lookin forward to that.

I guess I was lookin into an AT tire in the event i really needed to go offroad for some reason, or was just being spontaneous and goin on a quick offroad trip. here in AZ all terrains can go a long way, and im still a prerunner so i dont get into the gnarly trails anyway

Shit if your 2wd get some street tires. Your crazy to put 108 miles on an AT daily. No need at all.

    Street tires FTW.

I have a set of snow tires/AT's for winter and KM2's for summer.

I'll also echo getting an H/T tire for commuting. Putting that many miles on an A/T tire just on the off chance you might get the itch to go off roading is a little ridiculous in my opinion. Maybe look into a less aggressive A/T like the Yokohama Geolander A/T but if I were going to buy another set of tires for your kind of commute, I'd get an H/T tire for sure. I drive 50 miles round trip daily and love having the H/T tire even over my A/T's.

I've got a set of the stock Bridgestone Dueler H/Ts that I run during the summer and a set of Cooper AT3's that I plan to switch over for winter or if I end up going camping in VT, NH or ME.

I still have my stock tires (dunlops) as three season tires, but have a set of studded snows for winter, on steel wheels.

Just get a set of H/T or even a good highway rib tread for daily use and change them out for mall cruising...
