I just built a box for an Kicker comp 10. mounting depth Ii believe is 5 1/16". Most shallow mounts are under 5"(mounting depth) from what I've seen. Alot of boxes sold online you have to remove back wall brackets and some the plastic off of the back of the seats. Mr. Marv seems like a very reputable box builder and audio guru on here. He can probably set you up with something that will work for you. my 10" called for 1-2.4 cu ft. I made a box that fits behind the passenger/center area (no brackets removed)(I am estamating 1.4-1.5 cu ft)and an amp rack behind driver side. I was going to by a box but I ran across the 10" kicker for $23 at best buy(open box) so I thought I would give it a shot. Pics coming soon. Good luck! :D

    What he said.

You have about 6 inches of sub depth to work with back there, that's with removing the brackets and cutting a box to fit with a c-notch.

Look at Sundown SD series. Small, compact, blows most full size subs out of the water.

Otherwise Alpine Type-R shallow mounts are great subs. I have a 12 and it fits fine, no need to remove rear plastics.

I might be selling my Sundown SD-2 10" sub. I built the box that its in and can give you the dimensions, so you can build one yourself.

I was thinking about going with a single 10" sub, but wanted to build my own box and didn't want to deal with cutting out the c channel. So I decided to go with 2-8" subs. I measured and measured until I found box dimensions was close enough to the required air space to make me happy. Only had to take the plastic out on the passenger side.heratada_57e3a6d040f56a718011009944af48186092bc47.jpg

My printer prints out graph paper, so I took out my drive side plastics and left passenger side for reference. Took measurements of available space transfered to graph paper per scale. Measured the sub, transfered to graph, cut out, and moved it around on first graph paper(available space) until I got good clearence and angle. Also if building your own box, the bottom of the plastics on the rear seats sticks out further when opening and closing top part of back seat, so leave clearence for this movement if you dont want subs rubbed.lower in the box the subs the more clearence. Oh Yeah, no brackets cut, plastic still on the back of the back seats. :)

5.5" depth is pretty easy to get with a 10" sub. 6" is possible with either box or seat mods.

That plastic bump on the bottom got in my way... I didn't want to worry about it rubbing on my sub so I just took it off or now. Once I get my subs in I'll see how the clearance is and if I can put it back on I will, but really I don't need it, I won't be laying that seat down.

I as well was wondering what could be fitted back there, I have the JBL upgrade so right now i think theres an 8" stocker back there so id have to rip all that out. I prefer Rockford Fosgate for subs so id have to see what they offer size wise.

I will post pics tonight. On my camera I have pitures from the side of box with sub installed with no side wall. I took them because I wanted to be able to help anyone making a decision about speakers or boxes. I have to give props to Mr. Marv's picture gallery and install thread's. This guy is good, never talked to him but his knowledge and designs are top knotch. I also want to say thanks to everyone out thier (Tacoma World)for posting pics. It helped me out alot, and is a big reason I think I have built a good box and was able to eliminate alot of mistakes before I made them. Also I used 3/4" MDF. That will also limit your space for your sub compared to 1/2" . I wanted a solid box, Mr. Marv ,JL and Kicker use 3/4" MDF so I went with 3/4".

Thanks for all the responce and info, gotta get out there and actually look at some of these subs, I had two 10s" in a custom made box sitting on the floor behind the driver seat in my old Dakota but that left no room for people in the back seat, so going to stuff something behind that back seat in the Tacoma one way or another.
