My knife of choice is Emerson. http://www.emersonknives.com/ekTheKnives_Tact.php My EDC blade is the mini commander. The balance, the way it fits in my hand, how it snaps open when I pull it out of my pocket ready to use, I can't justify carrying any folder. Hand made in America, don't need to say much more!

Knives Of Alaska have some good folders also. I have numerous KOA knives and recently sent in a cleaver I abused on a monster axis. They replaced it to my surprise, threw in a sticker and sent me a check that covered shipping costs. That's great customer service.

I usually carry my Gerber Applegate Fairbairn or a Paraframe (coins get stuck in the Paraframe) and my Leatherman along with a flashlight. Can't live without them.

The S30V steel on the Applegate is nice and holds an edge real well. Good knife for the value.

My current favorite carry knife is a SRM 763 with the aluminum handle. I have 3 of them and just kind of rotate through them.
They have a bottle opener build in when it is folded and a really good axis lock.
Best of all they are less than $20. Google SRM 763 or just look on ebay.
They are made by a company (SanRenMu) in China that also makes a lot of the sub-$100 Benchmades among others, so their quality control is pretty good.

I also have some Pumas, a Benchmade, several Balisongs, Gerbers, etc. I just like the SRM. I have a few other of the Chinese knives, but that is the only one that is a unique design that has the right feel to it.

I carry a SOG Trident on me every single day. Light, strong, easily sharpened. I love it. Spyderco is a good brand too.

I like/carry the CRKT M16-13SF model. Had it for about 8 years, went to Iraq we me twice. Sharpens easily, not too bulky, not too small, perfect for day to day use/pocket carry.

Kershaw 1670 BLKST by Ken Onion.

It's my duty knife and it's been by my side for the past 4-5 years now. I won't carry anything else. And anything else I've seen seems much cheaper by comparison.

My two carry knives are a cold steel recon1 and a CRKT SF-m21. Both are awesome

For camping I either use a cold steel srk or a beker BK2 companion
